Thomas Smith Insurance Agency Ltd is seeking to employ a Claims Handler focusing on Personal Lines especially Motor Insurance Claims.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle and manage allocated insurance claims from first notification to final settlement.
  • Ensure all claims are registered accurately and within company defined timeframes.
  • Review policy cover, endorsements, excesses and liability position prior to processing claims.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date file notes, reserves and correspondence on the insurance system.
  • Ensure all incoming correspondence and emails are actioned promptly.
  • Liaise with clients, brokers, intermediaries, surveyors, repairers and insurers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Prepare and process payment adjustments accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Follow up and pursue all possible recovery opportunities in accordance with company procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, principals’ guidelines and regulatory obligations.
  • Escalate complaints, complex matters or potential fraudulent claims to management immediately.
  • Assist walk-in clients and handle telephone calls in a professional and efficient manner.

Holding an insurance qualification will be an asset.

Requirements
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in local motor insurance, other classes of insurance will be considered

  • Have excellent customer service skills

  • Have excellent communication skills in English & Maltese

  • Have a sense of responsibility, accountability and ownership

  • Process insurance claims efficiently and accurately

  • Maintain up-to-date records and documentation to support smooth operations.
